"Yeah, uh, I've been keeping all that in a while. Thanks, mon," Dill said before looking back down at Saltriv. "Uh, h-how about we go out to celebrate? You know, me living, this, the battle... w-we'll, uh, call it a d-date?" he asked nervously.

Dill looked up, clearing his throat as he unwrapped his hug. "Um... y-yeah! Thanks!" he piped, putting an arm around his partner's back.

"Th-thank you, Sal," Dill managed to reply through his sheer joy, softly nuzzling his head against Saltriv's neck. This was... he was gonna live, and his friend felt the same way!

The shock on Dill's face slowly turned into a wide smile. "I-I... y-you..." His tail wagging full force by now, he gently grasped the vine around his hand before kneeling down and wrapping Saltriv in a tight hug.

Dill froze, his eyes going wide. "Y-you...? Y-you do?" he asked. If he were warmblooded, his face would have been turning a shade of crimson.

Dill hesitated long and hard before his hand softly clenched around that vine. "I-I, uh... you're... ah. I-I really like y- uurk!" he cringed, immediately regretting saying that.

Dill nodded gratefully, his tail still flicking. He was on a roll, he felt. While the topic was still on that... "S-Sal?" he asked.

"That's... w-wow. I...thank you, mon. I... yeah. This is a weird time to, uh, tell you, but I-I trust you with it and all," Dill managed, putting a hand on the vine on his shoulder.

"That's the word?" Dill asked, glancing at the vine as he shrunk into his shoulders a bit. "Uh... y... a-ahem. Er... y-you don't... mind?"

"Uh... i-it's... erm, i-it's not that I don't... like... uhm," Dill gulped, pressing his back to the tree as his eyes darted around. "Um... d-don't judge me here, but... how do I explain... i-is there a word for, like, when you like girls, but you also kinda...?"

"I know," Dill sighed, putting a hand on Saltriv in turn. "Honestly... I think this was the best outcome for this sorta thing. Wasn't young or old enough for it to hit really hard, could've had more bridges to break there, and... yeah. At least it wasn't a couple moons later and I don't have...

"Yeah! That'll be great! It's just... I don't know, I'm still a bit bummed about... y'know. Everyone back home," Dill sighed. "I mean, they at least won't worry, if they think I'm dead... I dunno. Just kinda sits weird."

"No, just got a lot on my mind," Dill said as he tromped out the door. As he took a seat under a tree, he scratched at his head. "Uh, first off... thanks for having my back there. I wouldn't be at this point now if you hadn't... yeah," he said.

"Yeah. More or less. Maybe whenever the mon isn't watching," Dill said, his eyes wandering to Saltriv. "Hey, er... would you mind us stepping outside for a while? We've got a lot to talk about, I think. You know, it's their world I'm fixing to be living in and all."

"We're here for ya, mon," Dill said.

"Yeah. Again, humans're still cool!" Dill tried to reassure him, clapping the Swampert on the back.
