Prompt 10: like family. tradition very’s depending on what the leader considers traditional. Some live life by a strict moral code taught by the parents or mentor while others have only one rule. Survive. Birthdays are the only truly universal tradition as on birthdays they release paper lanterns into the sky with special patterns depending on milestones in the Pokémon’s life.

Prompt 11: communication actually occurs through small bursts of aura that can be understood by all who use the system. With humans however it takes special circumstances to understand this speech as humans usually are unable to use aura properly due to the properties of the human body lacking an organ to process aura

hey boxcat! it’s awesome to see you so inspired about your word! you’re free of course to answer as many prompts at a time as you wish, but let’s try to avoid posting too many times back to back in this thread, so as to prevent others’ posts from getting kicked too far back. 😅 putting multiple answers in a single post is perfectly fine and recommended.

not a problem at all! feel free to continue blasting them out. :quag: it would just be appreciated if answers made in rapid succession are kept together in a single post, so others’ posts remain visible. 😁

Day 1: Tell us about your world.

the central conceit of my world, Auspice, hasn't really changed since last year. whirlwind tour: several million years ago, Auspice was a wildlife sanctuary world—a menagerie of planetary proportions. it was tended to by a wealthy woman with a penchant for birds. she filled the world with birds of all varieties, or more accurately maniraptorans, which includes some animals we don't usually perceive as "birds" in a strict sense. some early human ancestors were brought from off-world to work and maintain the planet as slaves, and fish and some arthropods were raised as well to fill out the ecology and serve as food sources for the birds.

empires rose and fell, and Auspice was eventually abandoned by its caretakers. left to the whims of nature for the next several million years, the world's carefully cultivated fauna diversified rapidly, filling every conceivable niche. about 100,000 years ago, the first modern humans arrived on the planet by way of an ancient portal once used by the planet's caretakers themselves. several waves of human immigration followed, forming a complex patchwork of cultures and ethnicities. the human immigrants domesticated the birds around them, and several forms of strange, magical symbiosis developed over time... though some would say that's the stuff of bedtime stories and folkstales.

24. What are the routes/mystery dungeons in your world like?

Celestic Cognianze Mystery Dungeon2.png

Adding onto this image with more lore below.

The Mystery Dungeon is a surreal anomaly that has plagued the world seemingly forever. The sole information about them that hasn't been lost to time only tells about how they form. Why? Where? When? No one knows, not yet at least.

When the ley lines below the ground cross through each other and complete their 'form', a shadow appears on the surface, engulfing and devouring all land in its path, creating a wall of impervious darkness. An event in the past told of a village called Areos that was consumed by a forming Mystery Dungeon. All buildings, land, and Pokemon were voided into nothingness.

When Pokemon enter this shadow, they are transported to some alternate reality. The Mystery Dungeon attempts to imitate the land it swallowed, creating faux trees, rocks, even houses. These places are turned into maze-like rooms with corridors, traps, items, fake and aggressive Pokemon who attack outsiders, alongside other bizarre things created by the dungeon.

The ley lines are alive and active, slowly inching their way through the earth and creating more Mystery Dungeons in their path. It is an imminent and future threat the average Pokémon is not aware of. They won't stop until everything and everyone has been merged into a Mystery Dungeon.

Each time a Pokémon travels up and down the 'stairs' to another room, the ley lines in the real world twist and alter their form in response, creating another maze and ever changing structure to the new room.

The use of Entercards, which gives the user the ability to manipulate the ley lines and allow a Pokemon to ride a 'current' of ley lines to another dungeon, or another area, serving as instantaneous travel. It also adds another possibility that the origin of the ley lines can be found by riding a current straight to it.

Traps are sprung when just walking on the terrain of a dungeon. The ground shifts to a metal grate, which then releases its effect. The traps can range from harmless Chestnut Traps, which spray chestnuts on the Pokemon from above-to a Selfdestruct Trap, which can explode and kill a Pokemon not fast enough to react and get away.

I also have a ton of other lore images for other things since I do these almost every chapter.

Prompt 13: Pokémon have invented devices capable of teleportation, feral cloning tanks and have even found ways to replicate special scarves/bands that harden body tissue and even some bands can increase thought power and perception while worn.

Prompt 14: the answer is with the ability to clone recently killed ferals they can harvest the meat. It is still up for debate weather or weather not it’s ethical but as it solves the food dilemma it’s usually considered a necessary evil.

prompt 15: technology beyond what little the Pokémon have invented is mostly lacking and resembles medieval equipment (blacksmiths, swords, armour etc) but notably they do have a semblance of computers and as time goes on equipment changes as they do

prompt 16: aura is produced by the body in a special tangerine shaped organ. If an object, feral or even lost soul has enough aura it obtains sapient qualities and becomes self aware. Aura is used throughout the body and acts like a circulatory system but in time of need can focus energy and after enough buildup ejects from the body as a “move”. Humans however are unique in the fact that they are aura mute despite possessing the ability to circulate aura. This is however a special trade off as most “moves” lose most effectiveness when in contact with a human. Humans can even disrupt aura flow so much that as long as they are touching a Pokémon it can’t build up enough aura to use a move. Mr mime however is the only Pokémon capable of bypassing this due to constant exposure with humans as they regularly get used as a punching bag. and as a defence mechanism their bodies evolved to withstand and even counter any attempts to syphon aura.

Prompt 17: health care is extremely poor and only recently (through involvement with a certain human) did they learn how to properly close and disinfect a wound

Prompt 18: clothing is mostly for functional use however some Pokémon do regularly wear clothes but they are usually gaudy and over the top to the point of becoming a detriment to movement and reducing combat effectiveness

prompt 19: as it currently stands no war has happened since the eradication of the human race and as most “leaders” quickly get removed it’s unlikely that anyone in a leading position would be able to rally enough forces before being killed.

prompt 20: Tm’s are rare relics that can teach a Pokémon how to make aura flow in a specific way to perform the listed “move”. All orbs require being smashed to properly activate but strangely fail if a human tries.

prompt 21: I’m going to skip this one for now

prompt 22: mostly exploring, training, drinking, writing books and some towns even have saunas and bathhouses!

prompt 23: battles are brutal struggles for survival where injury’s are very possible.

Prompt 24: dungeons are strange places pulled from across time and space and stitched together. Sometimes this results in truly magical sights and mostly harmless ferals while other times they are brutal slogs through an unforgiving environment.

25: often times basic supplies include (but are not limited to)

-a map

-rations

-small personal belongings

and most cautious types like to travel with escape orbs but they aren’t always available

prompt 26: cultural murals mostly but occasionally you can find self portraits

prompt 27: they mostly walk on the outskirts but further inland requires assistance from flying or swimming Pokémon

prompt 28: ferals are a danger within mystery dungeons but occasionally you might stumble upon traps crafted by meticulous hands (or paws I guess).

prompt 29: mail is teleported into special mailbox’s. mail carriers are rarely used for anything other then the most important of letters and packages. Receiving mail this way is often regarded as a bad omen.

prompt 30: legendary’s often show up when the world needs them the most or if something breaches the universe in some way. The mere appearance of one of the creation trio is regarded as an apocalyptic event requiring all available Pokémon’s support.

and that’s it for the prompts

Ooh, these pokemon ones are fun! There are a couple I won't answer for spoilerish/impossibility reasons, but the rest should be fair game.

1 & 2: Tell us about your world./What's the geography of your world/region? (These two go hand in hand, sorry)

The world of Psychic Sheep is just known as "the five continents/earth", though that second one isn't used very often unless you're big on studying the history of those who came before. It's more commonly known by any one of the five landmasses that sit on the continent: Mist, Water, Air, Sand, and Grass.

Civilisation is fairly decentralized and varies highly by continent: outside of a few massive cities, there are mostly small , disconnected villages and guilds without a popular name. The Sand Continent is a large, archeological site and completely fenced off to civilians outside of an oasis harbor city, while the Mist Continent is cold but filled with easy travel paths and the Grass Continent is separated by a bunch of disconnected, coexisting guilds that insist upon independence from each other and the world.

Outside of the cities and well-beaten paths, one has the chance to accidentally walk into a mystery dungeon -- distortions of a single spot blown up into a labyrinth that defies the laws of reality. Myths and ghost stories abound about the strange places, and any dungeons significantly powerful enough to be marked on a map are off-limits to anyone without a badge and proper training. Though as they become more and more unavoidable, the weaker ones with their smaller hazards are becoming the subject of a commercial industry...

2. What’s the Geography of your world?

This is a tricky question! I have discovered not only one world here, but many,, divided into two distinct sectors collectively taking up a chunk of the Milky way Galaxy - one sector for the humans, demihumans, AI, and uplifted Earth animals, and one occupied by the various alien species of The Pact.

Human and co. worlds are all terraformed and largely mirror their home planet of Earth. The Pact's worlds vary more wildly depending on which of their component species inhabits it, but I will get to them soon.
