Treasure Town ~ Main Square

This wasn’t natural. There were too many unfamiliar faces here, standing in a town vaguely resembling one from her homeworld. Even then, she’d only visited it once. And the differences there were palpable as well. Exploring new places was her thing, but this was something else entirely.

“Mmph…” she mumbled, looking around with a disconcerted frown. Already, the group of Pokémon were beginning to disperse. Glancing around revealed to her a marketplace, a dojo, some pink-eared building on a hill at the edge of town, and—

A beach! She loved the beach. It was the last thing she’d seen from her island before leaving forever to become an explorer. It wasn’t like the memory meant anything here, but it spurred her legs forward nevertheless.

Fortunately, it seemed things were finally disbanding. Necrozma sank down onto the soft grass, directing light down through the trees and onto his torso. He crossed his arms over what passed for his chest and began humming softly.

Everyone had dissipated. Almost everyone, anyway. Cuicatl could vaguely recall a bird and a small dragon talking to each other. And a lot of Pokémon talking over each other. It was a little hard to pay attention and bathe in the majesty of being a motherfucking dragon.

What finally roused her from her thoughts was the distinctive “hmph” of a vulpix and the putter patter of fox steps. The vulpix! If she was going to make a friend here, that was as good a start as any.

“Hey, wait!”

With that, she started running towards the beach.

Tricky quickly got lost in the crowd - especially when more and more pokemon ended up arriving in the square. She dashed all around the place, trying to take in everything she could from this new place - she'd never been to Treasure Town before! If only it wasn't so deserted...

The grumpy poochyena was funny. Tricky liked him.

But now the place was boring. There was little to do in the town, when everything was either deserted or packing up. She thought about bugging the poochyena for a moment - Dave, was it? - but she couldn't see him anywhere. Oh well. While she was here, she figured she'd rather go exploring while she still could. Those woods looked interesting. She wondered if there were any mystery dungeons hiding around in there!

With that, Tricky took off in the direction of the woods, all errant thoughts about cake or hounding poochyenas forgotten for the moment.

"I sure wonder where everyone's off to. Should I just wait here?" Cynthian asked, standing alone in the middle of the square.

Phantom Fox had been trying to take everything in, but the square had been rather chaotic. Now everyone was leaving, he could finally get his thoughts together.

If anything, he just wanted to explore. He turned to look at Cynthian and asked, "So... any ideas? Because... I have to admit, I'm pretty lost right now."

"It's quite a hectic day," Truffle agreed, stepping into the main square after arranging some other errand that he had to take care of. "You are... ah, you're another of the visitors, is that right? Well, there's not much for you to do while we continue to observe Magikarp's movements... But perhaps some training would do you some good? I also believe others had gone to the beach to... er... well, meditate, perhaps, is a productive means to prepare oneself."

 

[Dragonfree]

Dave'd been dozing off in an alley off the main square for the past while, occasionally half-waking at various sounds. Having Poochyena hearing was weird, but honestly he could get used to it, if only he weren't trying to sleep.

When the sound of Truffle's voice woke him, though, he rose groggily and dipped his head out of the alley to see what he was up to.

 

[Namohysip]

"Ah, Poochyena! Wonderful! I was looking for you." Truffle flew toward the much smaller Pokemon and leaned forward in a graceful bow. "I would like to bring you to the Dojo. I will not take long. Will you follow me?"

 

[Dragonfree]

Dave narrowed his eyes at the Decidueye. "The dojo? What for?"

 

[Namohysip]

"Soda had something arranged for you. I'm not sure what, but he should be sending me the notes once we get there. Do you have the time to go? He said it shouldn't take too long."

 

[Dragonfree]

"Oh yeah. Something arranged. Definitely not sketchy at all," Dave grumbled. And yet. He didn't trust these zealots farther than he could throw them, but figuring out what they wanted with all of them was probably the closest thing there was to a lead on what was going on here. He wouldn't be surprised if they were behind all this shit, honestly.

"Fine. Let's do it."

 

[Namohysip]

"Of course! Onward!" Truffle, with his incessant enthusiasm, marched toward the Dojo, past the fighters, and into a hall that seemed to go nowhere...

Fay got back to Treasure town from the Woodland outskirts and noticed nobody besides himself is here at the main square. Fay thought to himself. Where did everyone go? Fay inspected the ground in order to find the group. The ground showed movement towards a bony building. Fay walked into said building.

Evening fell upon Treasure Town for what some felt could have been the last time. If they weren't able to stop Magikarp in time, then it would come to the town and smash it into the ground... All those homes and livelihoods, buried. And that wasn't even beginning to go over what it would mean if they couldn't even take down Magikarp of all things...

And yet, when Truffle returned from yet another scout, his news was practically redundant. The tremors had stopped. "Magikarp has fallen asleep!" he announced to those who had gathered for his regular briefings. "Though, I fear that attacking now may result in further danger when it awakens. All of the movement may set something off... And you all appear fatigued. We will continue to monitor things until morning!"

"Good, because I'm beat," Soda muttered, stretching his arms in the air. "Alright, my shift's over. G'night." He waved and wandered into the northern outskirts. Before he even entered the forest, he faded into the darkness, like he was never there.

 

[Adamhuarts]

"It's only been hours, but my shoulders are stiff already. Where do we stay for the night? And are there any flower vases I could sleep in? I could settle for a regular clay pot if there aren't any," Cynthian said, flicking pollen grains from his black flower.

"They set up a large room for us in the dojo," Cabot replied. "There's beds and plenty of food there."

 

[Namohysip]

"I think I saw a vase in there that we can probably empty out for you," Owen offered, nodding. "Me, I already set up my bed and got some meditating done. It was really refreshing, actually!"

 

[Adamhuarts]

"That's splendid. I was worried if my request was too particular," Cynthian said with a relieved huff. He'd been made fun of for his needs on at least one occasion in the past...

"It just needs a bit of soil and water and I'll be ready to sleep in it."

"Well, there's plenty of water there at least, so I guess you just need to collect some soil and you should be good."
