Luz shares a pleasant afternoon eating icecream and window-shopping with Drake, and has such a good time she offers to make it a regular hangout. She sweet-talks a vendor into letting them both have samples of every flavour. She thinks her favourite is honeycomb.

Brisa accepts the sparring match with enthusiasm, and doesn't hold back. Afterwards, she sends a care package to her friend's house, including a handwritten thank-you note. In it, Brisa tells Vix that she's a good friend, and that Brisa is proud of her.

Saltriv has one last sparring match with Brisa. They lose quickly, but they give it their all nonetheless. At the end of it, they tell Brisa that it was fun, and that they hope they can meet again someday.

Brisa thanks Saltriv for all their help in their time on Cibus, and wishes them luck back home with everything to come for them and their friends. She jokes that she enjoyed kicking their ass, but they're at their best on a team. Keep a steady heart, kid. Yer friends need you.

Brisa meets with Icetales to thank him for everything he's done for the team, and for him humouring her Colo matchup requests. The team wouldn't have been nearly as effective without his support, his bravery, and his unyielding endurance. Good luck back home with yer shitty pa, fella. You'll be alright.

As the final hours neared and everyone prepared themselves to return to their original worlds, Icetales remembered the last conversation he had with his sister Seventh at Spirits’ Edge…

“…So, thou art considering defying our father, Tenth.”

“Yes. This is what must be done. I must do it to save our people and the other kingdoms from his wrath.”

“Hm. A half-blood as a monarch of Borealis… This is such an undesirable outcome.”

“It is still far better than keeping him on the throne, so that he start a senseless war and spill innocent blood. I shall not let that happen. I… am ready for the task.”

“…Very well. So, thou will be returning to our world at this moment? I have left the notes as that fire demon asked me, so that thou will not forget what thou must do.”

“Much appreciated. But… No. Not yet. I must run a few last errands before departure…”

After taking a deep breath and readying his heart and mind, Icetales strode toward the exit of his temporary house. He stared at it for a while, as if trying to get some remaining memento that will not last, and with a heavy heart he closed the door…

———

Final Tango with Cynthian

It felt a tad strange to be wearing those robes after not wearing anything other than his ribbon for months, but Icetales had to admit that Cynthian had done a superb job with their attires.

They found a private spot by the lake, with the moon reflected on the clear water. The two spent a few minutes talking about their goals back home, as if to make sure that they could carry a piece of those words with them. Cynthian told him to hold his head high, and face his father with all he got.

“I have faith in you, Icetales.”

With his heart brimming with reassurance, Icetales invited her to one last dance, so that they would end everything with joy, not sadness.

Yes, a quadruped dancing with a biped brought some challenges, but it was still such a lovely moment, with a soft music playing in the background. Body against body, feeling each other’s heart beating against their respective chests, and finally an embrace.

“We shall see each other again someday, my love…”

———

Reading by the Lakeside with Saltriv

Ah, yes. The lake was surely Icetales’ favorite spot, and he was delighted to see Saltriv there, enjoying some sunrays.

The two conversed for a while, with Saltriv talking about their desire to write books someday, and Icetales humored them with some books he had written during his time in his world. Stories of legends, myths and folklore from his world; tales of hope and self-sacrifice; books of arcane witchcraft from other dimensions.

After reading some notes together, Saltriv gave one last hug to Icetales with their vines, and Icetales reciprocated that by wrapping his tails.

“Good luck with thy goal, Saltriv. I am sure thou will accomplish great things!”

———

Hearts of Battle and Darkness, ft Brisa and Owen
Icetales wasn’t too surprised to see them hanging out by the training room, ready to spar for one last time. It sure brought back memories of when the two taught him the first tricks to become a proper battler.

How much things had changed, indeed.

Icetales was quick to request one last training session, so that he could get ready to face his father. Owen had an interesting idea: trying to replicate the Chaos Scythe by bending a Protect and empowering it with flames.

After all, Icetales had to be ready to fight a scythe-wielding demon, so why not train with another scythe-wielding demon?

Hours passed, with Icetales cutting through fire and electricity with his dark powers. The darkness that was going to destroy other darkness… He felt his spirit shining despite all of that, and his heart became stronger and sturdier with each passing minute.

He felt… ready.

But of course, the two had some final encouraging words…

Brisa meets with Icetales to thank him for everything he's done for the team, and for him humouring her Colo matchup requests. The team wouldn't have been nearly as effective without his support, his bravery, and his unyielding endurance. Good luck back home with yer shitty pa, fella. You'll be alright.

At hearing this, Icetales smirked and wagged his tails. “I shall. Many thanks for everything, you two. I would not have come this far without your help and friendship… I wish you both all the best with your future endeavors, too.”

———

Demonic Foxes Meet

That hybrid between a Giratina and a Zoroark — Kora, right? — seemed particularly interested in both Icetales and Petram, for two different reasons. Icetales was somewhat weirded out by the antics of the Zoroark, while Petram found him hilarious.

They showed off their respective demonic powers and talked a bit about their respective worlds, before parting for destinations unknown.

———

Talking About Legends with Koamaru

Ah, yes. The library was such a nostalgic place, and Icetales found it amusing that some of the books he had written were already exposed on the shelves.

In fact, it seemed that Koamaru had a couple of them in his stash of books, and Icetales approached his young friend.

They talked about their missions back home, and Icetales once more reminded him that he would cheer for Koamaru, even if his mind were to forget everything. In exchange, Koamaru thanked the fox for all the words of encouragement, and wished him best of luck with his family and father.

They shared one last hug, fur brushing fur, and traded one last moment with some fresh tea.

———

Tea Party with Mellow

Of course, Icetales had plenty of tea to share, and what better way than to have some Teatime with Mellow?

The two enjoyed some nice tea together, and Icetales wished her best of luck with her job and activities back home.

They shared one last hug and went to their respective ways… and the Ninetales froze when he found out that all his money was gone.

“Well, I’ll be darned…”

———

Stargazing with Bahamut and Celeste

It was always a pleasure to look at the stars with Celeste, and Icetales was pleased to have managed to find Bahamut and look at the stars together. Sure, Bahamut was the same old dragon with a pragmatic point of view, but Icetales appreciated that, anyway.

Celeste… Well, there were still the weird feelings that they had never fully tackled, but it is not like they had time to work on them anymore — soon, they would forget everything.

Icetales could almost swear that Bahamut was thinking that they should better take a room for themselves or something. He had no way to tell, however.

Still, despite the awkward atmosphere, it was a pleasant time for him.

Nate and Rocky go to visit Chip to see what he's up to. Any new projects? Nate wonders whether he found any inspiration from all the moon nonsense or the pocket universe--anything he might be able to study further. He thanks Chip for his help in their investigations over the past few months.

The two of them also head up the hill to see Pop and Cola. Rocky wants to thank Pop again for fixing his psychic link with him earlier and for giving him his special power to pull in people from other worlds. It was super helpful! Nate thanks Pop as well, although he clearly would rather not revisit the time he came to Destiny Tower with a request for its arceus. Rocky wants to say hi to Cola, too. He wants to know what Cola's going to be up to, now that the danger to Cibus has passed. He hopes they can play together, too! Rocky thinks it's going to be fun to watch Cola grow up and learn how to be a god.

Nate has Rocky leave a note for Karat. He says it was too bad that no one on Team Spectrum wound up getting the chance to fight him before they had to leave, but he hopes Karat will have the chance to get out and battle a bit in the future anyhow. Maybe Diyem or Maple would make a good opponent for him. Nate wishes Karat and Deoxys luck with the regeneration, and Rocky says he's sorry about that once again.

They go to visit Blacklight Mewtwo at Diyem's house, where he definitely isn't staying. They want to see how he's doing, and Rocky brings him a Karat action figure and a book of children's adventure stories. He says he hopes they can hang out once Team Spectrum leaves Cibus--maybe he'd like to come with him and Mia to travel and see the world? He's curious whether Blacklight Mewtwo's thought about coming up with a name for himself, too. Nate tries to pet Toast. He may leave a note thanking Diyem as well. Perhaps a picture that he drew...?

They make sure to say goodbye to Silver and his team as well. Nate's curious about Silver's plans from here. He's planning to return to the human world, isn't he? Nate wishes him luck and expresses hope that he won't have to worry about Giovanni in the future. He also has gifts for Silver's team, a few berries for each of them in their favorite flavors.

The day before everyone is scheduled to leave, Nate invites Buffet out to lunch at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Rocky tries to match whatever Buffet takes, and Nate mostly just snags things from Rocky's plate when the familiar isn't paying attention. Nate thanks Buffet for all he's done to help Team Spectrum, and wishes him a long life and a long period of peace on Cibus.

Chip says that he has no new projects, and the world, for now, can carry on with inventing things without him. He was going to take a few months off and relax with his father, Reshiram.

Rocky wants to say hi to Cola, too. He wants to know what Cola's going to be up to, now that the danger to Cibus has passed. He hopes they can play together, too! Rocky thinks it's going to be fun to watch Cola grow up and learn how to be a god.

Cola seems eager to get to training in an era of peace, saying that if things go well, he'd be able to 'eat Pop' in only a few centuries! Pop chuckled at this, not looking nervous at all, and said that such a thing would be the natural progression of two halves of the same soul. In the end, they would have to become alike enough to recombine nicely, so long as neither of them are killed, which would force the process. In the end, it was a long ways away. Cibus would know entire eras where they had two gods watching over them.

Unexpectedly, Karat appeared before Rocky the moment the note was left behind. He looked the same as before, a horrid amalgamation, but it also looked like he had a few trinkets from DV with him. He wasn't much for talking, but Rocky was able to discern that he indeed returned to Destiny Village, even if he prefers the quiet of the forest. He has a home. And his fans were still there for him. Even after so many generations in Cibus, it still surprises him how accepting the world is toward a being like him.

He seemed to be okay. When Deoxys would regenerate could be a matter of decades... but Karat didn't seem to be all that upset. Deoxys didn't, either. What an odd couple.

They go to visit Blacklight Mewtwo at Diyem's house, where he definitely isn't staying. They want to see how he's doing, and Rocky brings him a Karat action figure and a book of children's adventure stories. Blacklight Mewtwo had a taste for battle, and so did some of the Void spirits within him, so that worked out nicely. He wasn't stable enough to battle in public yet, but progress was progress, and the Overseers had whole itineraries already in development for him.

On Team Spectrum's final evening in Cibus, Cabot and Pleo take on the Curry Bowl Challenge alongside Kate and Melanie.

It was difficult--not so much for the Void Eternas--but in the end, a few new pictures were added to the wall of fame... Some legacies were truly more staggering than others.

They make sure to say goodbye to Silver and his team as well. Nate's curious about Silver's plans from here. He's planning to return to the human world, isn't he?

Silver remarked that he and Red were set to go back home. Dialga and Palkia's efforts, together, allowed them safe passage to the moment they'd left their world, without interfering with any "causality" issues, as Dialga phrased it. Apparently the world was far away enough that it worked out.

Silver asked Palkia where Giovanni had gone, and whatever answer was given, it was satisfying, and he didn't press. Despite everything, he was at peace with it. "Though," Silver said, "with some luck, maybe I can tap into this body when I need it. Who knows? ...Ugh. Cibus' hope is rubbing off on me. I need to get out of here, fast."

After everything was said and done, Owen went for one last gauntlet to meet everyone on Team Spectrum, including their Void Eternas, just to chat, see how they were, and any last words they might have had. He spent a particular amount of time with Bahamut, who would have been most affected by this, for one last meditation session. He talked with Bahamut about memories; how he had so many that were sealed away, while Bahamut started with so many that turned out to be irrelevant. But, they were still important, weren't they?

After everything, Owen offered to give Bahamut a hug. Regardless of whether he accepted or not, he also remarked that Cal might want similar things, and to humor her--or find someone who would--if she ever felt lonely.

Bahamut's attempt at hugging Owen led to him jabbing the charizard's with one of his chest spikes. There may or may not have been a Morning Sun required after that...

Brisa meets with Cabot and Kate for a final sparring match, more for fun than competition, and cap it off with a round of drinks. As they talk, the three of them are sure that their void eternas will remain friends with them gone, and perhaps have much the same experience they just did in years to come.

Brisa swings round the Miracle Matters' accomodation at the Guild and says a few goodbyes to those she met. She has a small sparring match with Danithan in his zeraora form, just so she can have personally fought every other zeraora on the planet. Ben gets a hug, because he's a good boy. Aria gets a kiss on the cheek, because she's not the only striker gal who can put people off their guard. Owen gets one last assurance that though the future may hold challenges, he's strong and brave enough to meet them, and he already knows it.

Brisa makes a small stop at Sword and Shield's place, to congratulate them on doing their duty and wishing them well with whatever they decide for their future. And she's got hugs for them if they want them, too.

Brisa's last will and testament leaves much of her substantial wealth to reconstruction charities and combat sport scholarships. After working her ass off all year as an exceptional fighter and living frugally, she amassed quite an amount! A portion is also left as a trust fund for the void eternas.

After making a donation to Colo upkeep, she accepts an offer for a new advanced combat training annex in the DV Colosseum to be named after her, on the condition it in fact be the Brisa, Astrid & Starr Battle School.

There are rumours in Team Spectrum fangroups that an anonymously published romance novela is the work of Luxray Brisket, but it is never proven. Its style uses an oddly archaic lexical register, and it tells the story of warriors from different worlds who are separated by time and space but for precious, fleeting interactions, which nonetheless change them and their lives for the better.

After the final Colo match, but before the final goodbye, Brisa and Astrid, at last, get to go flying together. (And, after the high air proves chilling, cuddle for warmth.)

You don't have to have the right words. Y'don't have to say anythin' at all. What matters is that here an' now, t'gether, we're happy.

I love you.
