Brisa surprised herself by interjecting like that. She supposed she was just now learning how she behaved when in groups.

"Is everyone ready to fight 'Sushi' then?" she asked, eager to change topic. "I'm afraid I don't have much command of electric energy in my new body, but I'll do my best to land a powerful blow all the same."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I wonder if we even need to fight it at all. Maybe if I sleep powder it enough, it'll fall asleep and never wake up," Cynthian joked, flicking the two charred petals on his flower.

Deep down, he half hoped things could go that easily. Straightforward confrontations weren't exactly his specialty.

 

[Shadow of Antioch]

Brisa allowed Curio to pipe up with her own personal introduction.

"I'm Shinx Brisa," she said afterwards, "from... from Frontier Town in my home world. This sort of thing is a first for me, but it seems real enough, and where I come from, heroes travelling between worlds and having new bodies made for them is well-documented. I just never expected I'd be one."

Flame grinned sheepishly and shrugged. "Doesn't really feel like we're worthy of having stories written about us. Not yet. I mean—" He giggled. "Look at us—we're relaxing on a beach right now!"

Turning to Cynthian, he crossed his arms. "Aw, come on! It was just a little ember. What if we have to fight a world-eater or whatever Glowy said it was called?"

"I'm nothing without my flowers, and they can take up to a week to fully regrow. It'd be nice if you don't go coughing up flames on them, please?"

 

[Ambyssin]

You have no proof that I am this so-called World Ender's minion.

Necrozma had no eyes to roll in his current form. "And, by that logic, you have no proof you aren't its minion. What I do know is you're concealing information from us. And there was something very off about your aura. Almost as if you were camouflaging it. There are no other psychics in the group, so they were all blissfully ignorant of your deception. But you cannot fool me. You—"

"The... Prism mon is Necrozma. I believe you've also met him before, Curio, that is if you remember that night too."

His interdimensional telekinesis came to a screeching halt. "Excuse me? I do not recall ever meeting either of you before this moment. And I certainly didn't disclose that term to you." Necrozma's core crackled with wisps of ESP. "Explain yourself."

“Yeah, I remember that tin can.” Curio winced. “Bleh.”

Again, he had no eyes to roll. "I hear riolu need happiness to evolve. Good luck achieving that in your new body with that attitude."

"Excuse me? I do not recall ever meeting either of you before this moment. And I certainly didn't disclose that term to you." Necrozma's core crackled with wisps of ESP. "Explain yourself."

"We have met! Do you seriously not remember anything at all? Not even when I asked you..." Cynthian held his tongue and his expression saddened. He recalled the depressing response he got when he asked Necrozma if he was in love with someone back during the camp fire.

"In any case, I don't know how you ended up forgetting that night when Curio didn't. Though to be fair it was only one night, so we're more or less still strangers anyway," Cynthian said with a sigh, a bit disappointed. Then again, he didn't exactly know how to befriend Necrozma, and he looked kind of scary too. Those claws are no joke.

 

[Ambyssin]

"I've never traveled to another universe. Most likely what you saw was a Phantom spawned by World Ender to deceive you," Necrozma said, crossing his arms and tapping his crystalline claws against what constituted his forearms.

 

[Adamhuarts]

"I would be willing to believe that if Curio over here wasn't there as well, and she said she remembers you too, didn't she?" Cynthian argued, placing his flowers on his hips while frowning.

 

[Fusion]

"It's likely that he just forgot when he left, that tends to happen, from what I've seen," Vix said, reaching for a satchel that wasn't there and letting out a sigh. "Not everyone chooses to remember those games when they leave, so he probably chose to forget."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"Is that how it works? Huh..." Cynthian glanced at Necrozma, which turned into a deadpan stare. Yep, the dude absolutely chose to forgot that night. It really added up.

"I'm glad I didn't make myself forget. Makes it less difficult to get to know some of you all," Cynthian said, waving his flower. "Though I haven't met you yet, Litwick. My name's Cynthian. What's yours?"

 

[Ambyssin]

"I don't have a name. I've been calling myself 'Necrozma' because it means 'death prism' in my world's ancient tongue."

 

[Fusion]

"Is that how it works? Huh..." Cynthian glanced at Necrozma, which turned into a deadpan stare. Yep, the dude absolutely chose to forgot that night. It really added up.

"I'm glad I didn't make myself forget. Makes it less difficult to get to know some of you all," Cynthian said, waving his flower. "Though I haven't met you yet, Litwick. My name's Cynthian. What's yours?"

"Vix. I've been to a game or two before, but I've yet to meet you at one." Vix shot a friendly smile. "I wouldn't wanna forget those games either but... I feel like Necrozma has his reasons." She looked over at the crystalline creature, wanting to know him more but knowing not to press too hard. These moody types tend to be flippant as hell.

"I'll keep my offer of sharing my light on table, Necrozma."

"I don't have a name. I've been calling myself 'Necrozma' because it means 'death prism' in my world's ancient tongue."

Cynthian was really starting to wonder if there was anything about Necrozma that wasn't overly depressing. He couldn't help but feel bad for him, but Cynthian felt he likely wouldn't be able to understand what Necrozma feels. They lived completely different lives.

"Well, I don't think the name Necrozma suits you. And you can't just say you don't have a name because then no one will know what else to call you." Cynthian looked down with a thoughtful look.

"The name Necrozma sounds like a curse. So, why not go a better and more uplifting name? There's a legend in my hometown about a Volcarona called Nekross. The story is a bit long, It's said that he was blessed by Solgaleo's, and from the heavens brought light to the world during a time of darkness," Cynthian said, extending a vine from within his flower and shaping it to resemble a six pointed star.

"If it's alright with you, I could be referring to you by Nekross instead of Necrozma. At least until you're willing to pick a more suitable name yourself."

 

[Fusion]

Vix sputtered out more sand, finding it harder and harder to tolerate it. Some wise, definitely-not-evil individual once said, "Sand fucking sucks," and she totally agreed. Especially if you're made of wax, and said wax basically absorbed sand like Depressedzma absorbs light.

"God, why did I even come to this beach? There's so much sand!" Vix grumbled, floating a foot off the ground. "I think I'm gonna go before I turn into a ground type. It was fun getting to know you more, Necrozma, and it was nice meeting you Cynthian." Vix waved as she floated off, a noticeable trail of sand falling off her.

 

[Ambyssin]

"No. A worthless failure like me doesn't deserve a name." Necrozma stared at his right hand. "Certainly not one related to some fairy tale. 'Solgaleo' sounds completely made-up. There's no such creature in my universe."

 

[Adamhuarts]

"No. A worthless failure like me doesn't deserve a name."

"I disagree with that. And even if what you say is true, then it's all the more reason why you deserve a fresh start," Cynthian said, swinging his arm beside him.

He raised the other to his chest and said, "I don't know what you've been through, but I at least know that one won't get anywhere if they choose to live with their own failure. It won't be easy, but all you can do is keep moving forward. I believe that there can always be a better tomorrow."

Cynthian heaved. How long has he felt this passionate about anything? It was starting to give him a headache.

He paused for a moment and then rubbed the back of his head. "I should probably get going. I've had enough of the scenery for now."

"At least give it some thought. It's your choice in the end," Cynthian said before turning to leave the beach. He was wondered where he should go next.

Brisa's face contorted with a mix of pity, awkwardness, and a small measure of disdain.

"Be seein' ya, Cynthian," she said. She made a note to keep an eye out for that one. He might need a speech like that if he were ever badly hurt. Then to the prismatic entity, "Well met, Necrozma. Can we count on you in the fight against Sushi and any others like her?"

 

[Ambyssin]

"Back home, I was more of a shield than an attacker. But this world..." Necrozma raised a hand and fired a Charge Beam into the sand right next to Brisa. "... it seems the rules are different here. That said, you're still a pure electric-type, which makes you arguably the best 'mon on the team to deal with the giant magikarp."

"I'll do my best," said Brisa, acutely aware that she still didn't have mastery over her electricity in this body. The novelty of being so small again had worn off in a bout a minute flat, and she was impatient to regain her prior capabilities.

"What's your take on our situation, anyway?" she asked, to the assembled group rather than to anyone in particular. "I keep feelin' like I'm outta my depth since finding myself in Veritas City without warning. Has anyone found out anythin' useful?"

 

[Ambyssin]

"My take on the situation... is that this world is under threat of a daemon known to my universe as World Ender," Necrozma said. He floated next to Brisa and, with a single claw, drew a circle in the sand. He then added five diamonds along the circle's edge, with their ends point in toward one another. "This symbol... it's all I remember of it, appearance-wise."
