Cabot stared at Bahamut dumbfounded for a moment. Had he really just heard that from the same Pokémon he'd spoken to yesterday?

"Yeah, that's... well said..."

The Cranidos trailed off as Pleo tilted his head curiously. This was Bahamut and not just someone pretending to be him, right? The young Lugia waddled over to Bahamut and gave a peck at his armor to make sure.

"Even if we did all that, Joule will still be quite a force to be reckoned with. Do we know anything else to our job easier? Is there a way to just restrain him or keep him from attacking long enough to calm him down? It'd be nice if we could avoid beating someone up for once," Cynthian said, though his voice carried little confidence avoiding a violent clash would be possible.

Maple wondered if Owen was rubbing off on him. All that meditation must have been doing something with that psychic link.

"The Reverse World was one part of the plan I have in my notes... It seems that it's a wise decision from many of us. But there are things that we need to be careful of. The Reverse World is chaotic and has weak links to varying parts of Cibus. Should a devastating attack go off there, or should Joule go on a rampage in general, not only will the denizens of the Reverse World be in danger, but all of Cibus could twist as the Reverse World's corruption leaks into it. Dungeon distortions had been funneled into the Reverse World to help quell the chaos in Cibus, as the Reverse World could handle it better. If the Reverse World is damaged, Dungeons might reappear spontaneously all over Cibus, perhaps even in established settlements."

Maple then turned to her notes again. "There is another aspect that Owen noted here that I can add to. He said that while his resistances seem to be weak, he can also strengthen himself. He said that there was something... dynamic about his body. I believe I know what he is referring to." Maple looked to the others. "Every time Joule is afflicted by something in battle, he will repel it back to the opponent as soon as he can... and then he becomes immune to it. Not only that, but his resistance to new things becomes stronger. If you try to stall him... you may simply run out of tricks.

"And not only that," Maple added, "but I fear that he may attack anyway. I know a few of his techniques... and if he is truly fighting seriously, there may be a constant shower of light battering you during battle. Owen even gave it a name, based on what he'd gathered from Balm and Cepa."

The two waved nearby, nodding. "It was like the sky was falling. We saw distortions in the sky like streaks of energy, and then scorch marks on the ground. It was probably Blacklight, because we couldn't see it, only the way it warped the light around it."

"His Catastrophe attack..." Maple frowned. "It is something you may need to deal with for most of the fight."

"That is why we have to fight him... and why you have to call to him," Bahamut said. "We can serve as targets. Clear, tangible sources for Joule to direct his unrestrained fury toward. I believe that if we attack, he is more likely to focus on us than on his surroundings." He paused. "It's a case of offense being our best defense.

"And as far as his attacks go... I spent the end of yesterday in deep meditation and I think I molded shadows into a means of warding off certain attacks and forcing enemies to target us individually." Bahamut held his right hand forward. Black mist swirled around his claws until some sort of jagged mask floated in front of his hand. It lasted a short while before Bahamut closed his hand, dispelling the shadows.

"Besides that... from what I remember of your fight with him, his large size makes his attacks... quite choreographed." Bahamut glanced at his teammates. "We have battle-hungry folks here. Or analytical bookworms. I bet they'll know what Joule is up to."

"And I would be careful about trying to rush immediately through Joule," Maple said, looking toward Cabot and the others' eager expressions. "I suspect that once we fight him proper, we might see that his defenses aren't nearly as flimsy as we think they are. I know Joule. Once he feels that he's threatened--and that's rare, but it's happened--he... gets serious." Maple tried to think of how to phrase it. "He calls it his second wind, in a way. When he's normally fighting at half his vitality... He reflexively curls up and shields all attacks."

"Oh, yeah." Soda tilted his head back in recollection. "I'm pretty sure even really devastating attacks will only take a chunk off of him if you guys try concentrating your onslaughts."

Cabot grimaced slightly as Maple described Joule's latest ability.

"That's... something to keep in mind then," he sighed, shaking his head. "Though there was something else I was wondering about. The last time we fought Darkwhite she'd become so corrupted that she was no longer a Psychic-Type, but pure Blacklight instead. Do we know if the same thing has happened to Joule?"

"It seems so," Maple said solemnly. "I do not think Dark, Ghost, or Ice attacks, for example, would do much extra against him. Or, in the Reverse World, any less."

"It'll be harder to take Joule down if he's in the Reverse World, too," Soda remarked. "Maybe if there was a way to time it now and then... Maybe at a point where we know Joule won't attack, we can try to flip it back to the stable world and do more damage... As long as he doesn't retaliate."

"Do we have to wait for the right time to have Maple reach out to him? It'll literally save us a great deal of pain if that works." Cynthian's heart drummed in his chest, though he tried his best not to show it as he took steady breaths. He wore a complicated look on his face and looked toward Maple, saying, "It might save him the heartache when he returns to his senses later too..."

"Look, I know this isn't going to be easy to stomach, but it has to happen," Bahamut said. "You of all people know how powerful he is left unchecked. And we literally have not been able to purify anyone without kicking their teeth in first."

Brisa and Luz watched the meeting proceed, exchanging thoughts in careful, halting telepathic exchanges. Every now and again, Brisa winced. Luz scratched notes into their notepad. Their tails lashed in matching bursts.

"So, there's somethin' th'two of us were jus' thinkin'," said Brisa, carefully.

Luz nodded, arms crossed. "Yeah, see, my gal here an' I have been workin' on corruption control fer a while now, to fight harder without gettin' outta paw. And I lend my strength to her fer th'sake of strength and speed an' the like too."

"All Spectrum members with familiars can work t'gether on such things," added Brisa, giving a sort of awkward shrug. "Considerin' how Joule supposedly fights, we all oughta be usin' our shades' powers to learn to fend off fettles like freezin', poisonin', and reduction to our strength. That way, if he reflects our fettles back on us, we'll still be fightin' at near to full strength."

Luz snapped her digits. "Jus' lke that, th'downside of the fettlin' strategy won't bother us none."

"I have Magic Coat." Bahamut shrugged. "The team could literally fit behind me, but these battles don't seem to work that way." He smirked. "Guess that means we just have to run up the inventory tab."

Owen had come in some time in the middle of the meeting, but with an acknowledged nod from Maple, he seemed confident that his notes had at least helped. He sat by quietly and listened in.

"Yes. Joule will most likely send back whatever you give him in terms of things to tarnish his fighting. Being able to neutralize it in some way will be a big help." Maple looked back at Pop, who nodded. "I think that is the best we can do for planning, then. Everyone, spend the next few days preparing. This time bubble still has for us that much."

"I will speak with Giratina about coordinating a Reverse World split, and perhaps Palkia to prevent Joule from warping away, or disrupt it enough for the duration of the battle. As for the attack that is coming our way now... I know how to neutralize it. But I do not think I can neutralize another without a lot of risk... Be careful."

"Well, the matter of actually damaging Joule will have to fall to those who actually attack." Bahamut sat on his haunches. "All I'll be good for here is healing, as per usual. But if you want a weak spot... that would be between Joule's eyes. That's where my brain prism dwells in that form, so it should be the same for him."

Owen winced. "I guess, in a way, that's one thing you have in common with us, huh? Still need to look out for the head..."

He stood up, seeing that others were beginning to shuffle out.

"Thank you, everyone, for gathering," Maple said. "I think we have a decent plan going forward. It's now the execution that we will need to be careful of..."

Owen left with some of the others, though he sighed, looking at Cal. She was worried. He could tell. "It's alright," he said softly. "Just like any other fight..."

With that, he left, with Cal being uncharacteristically quiet.
